This is what Rob Had to say
I used to play a lot of football in my early years, but gave it up at 27 years old! Due to the worry about getting injured!
I sporadically continued to do some form of exercise, 5 aside, a bit of running or occasionally some cycling! But during this I went from being a skinny runt to putting on a lot of weight, 14 stone in weight at one point! Mainly due to beer and kebabs 🤦♂️
I remember one particular winter, I was struggling to breath when I went to bed, so I sat in the bathroom trying to get my breath, but was really struggling! I made an appointment at the doctors the next day and was diagnosed with having asthma, something I hadn’t had since I was a kid! This was a worry as I had 2 young girls, and didn’t want my fitness to be a factor in doing anything strenuous with them, like walking, playing etc
I made the choice to join a commercial gym to try and and improve my asthma by taking up running! Which helped to a point, but My wife and some friends of ours had been training at RM and had some really good results! After a bit of badgering I decided to give it a try, and having looked back since! The first few months were a real wake up call! I spent the first few weeks outside trying not to throw up! it’s in the last 12 months that I have seen the biggest changes!
I have lost 6kgs in weight, body fat dropped massively and my strength has improved immeasurably!
I couldn’t have done this without the help and support of all the coaches, they consistently push you and even adapt sessions, if your are struggling with injuries or niggles!
When I joined I could barely get through a session without struggling! My fitness, stamina and strength have improved totally! I could only deadlift 100kgs that is now at 200kg for 2 reps, my bench press has gone from between 70/80kgs now it’s up to 100kgs for 3 reps. Squat was pretty poor as well as I had little chicken legs and could barely squat 90kgs! This has also improved to around 140kgs So on the whole, my strength has improved massively.
One of the many things I really like about RM fitness is a feeling of community, I’ve made some really good friends over the last couple of years! So much so that, when we get the opportunity we socialise together.
I also really enjoy the variations of the sessions,That are put together, there’s always a good mix of strength and conditioning, with the coaching staff pushing you on all aspects of training.
One thing I never thought I would ever say is that I enjoy going to the gym, but I do now!
