Case Study # 6 Dane Andrade… ” The secret of getting ahead is getting started”

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. “

‘Those words from Mark Twain, I must say, best describe of how I live my life now. I’m way too far from what or who I was physically and mentally.

It started when I’d decided to start training at RM Fitness. Knowing that apart from work, I had to insert into my daily routine the commitment I made, I started slow, unknowledgeable, weak and maybe insecure. But those beginnings were one of the awesome-est!

In life, when your days become a routine, you become weary. You want to reward yourself of something extraordinary but you don’t know how.

Just like any other ordinary guys in my early years, I was careless. I ate anything I wanted. An early morning jog at least twice a week was enough for a week of calories. I thought fixing the broken fence in the backyard was enough to burn some fat.

I wanted to be strong, I wanted to be able to do something greater than usual but yeah, I was lazy and demotivated. The good thing here is that, I said “was”.

I first started with Evolution365 at RM Fitness in June 2014. Nothing comes easy for newbies especially if you’re working on something really great.

Days, weeks, months had passed and soon the changes became visible. Efforts were finally paying off, but my journey to fitness didn’t end just like that. I gained more power. I started wishing to do greater than usual. I felt I needed something more. Then, I decided to start the real challenge. I invested in personal training with RM Fitness coach Sam Dimmick.

He pushed me to my limits. He made me commit to my goals… to our goals. He taught me so much about discipline and how to play with it. It took time to conquer the fear but I trusted myself enough to be able to overcome it. I became accountable to my dreams that someday I’ll be ahead of what I used to imagine.

Then suddenly, my life changed – extraordinarily. I felt the boosting confidence within me. The fulfillment was indeed unbelievable. Yes, the end product was so surprising that it became a motivation and then a habit… And that keeps me going up to this day. There’s no turning back. Plus I gained new friends. Friends not just for the sake of training but the one you can count on even outside the four corners of your comfort zone!

If you ask me whether I would recommend personal training or not, well, definitely I would- without hesitation. It’ll bring big changes in your life like it did to mine. It doesn’t guarantee fast-and-easy results but at the end of the day, it boils down to your choices and how you focus on your commitments. Have a great day folks!’

A Note From Sam:

“I have so much respect for Dane and his achievements he is a top guy and pleasure to work with.

I would like to point out here that we understand that for a lot of people, the desire to get their abs out and become this lean is not their end goal.

The majority of people we work work with start with the goal of just losing some weight, becoming healthier and happier with their body and having a sustainable lifestyle where they can feel confident and enjoy a take away every now and then or a glass of wine or a beer or two and this is awesome!

You can go a very long way living the 90% ‘clean’, ‘real food’ approach. Plenty of quality animal proteins, lots of nutritious veggies, some good fats, the right amount of carbohydrates for your needs and the odd ‘naughty’ treat (we aim to educated clients at RM Fitness to find this balance). You don’t have to count calories and macro nutrients or live like a monk to have the body you want.

However sometimes, some people have the desire to see what happens when they try 100% for a period of time. Although with Dane’s nutrition I aimed to be as flexible as possible, by nature this approach is restrictive and you have to weigh and measure your foods in order to make the correct changes to nutrition in order to illicit the response you require.

Having been through this process once myself I can say its interesting, you can learn a lot about your body and your mind. I will say its not for everyone and it can mess with your head a bit and if I’m being honest I prefer (and I know Dane does) having some flexibility, being able to go for food with the missus and over indulge now and again and maintain the body I’m happy with and tighten up when I need to.

Remember its about finding a lifestyle, building habits that you can maintain for the rest of your life. Having a healthy relationship with food and enjoying training is really important! Its a 365 Thing!”
